1/Hotel Overview
The Topas Ecolodge is not in the town of Sapa itself. It's located atop two hills setting deep in the Sapa valley, 18km from Sapa town.

The Topas offers 25 individual bungalows placed in a circle around the hills. All are with a private balcony looking down the scenic valleys, which are home to villages of the Tay and Red Dao minorities. The bungalows are built of white granite from a nearby quarry and the roofs are made from palm branches. The rooms are very spacious and clean. They're nice decorated in a sort of modern and rustic combination with a terra-cotta tiled floor, woven rattan chairs and a rack instead of a wardrobe. They're equipped with an en suite bathroom with a hot water shower. There is no telephone, no televison, no air-conditioning, and no minibar in the rooms. It feels like a real escape!

The Thai stilt house restaurant offers a buffet three times a day – a Western – style breakfast and Vietnamese lunch and dinner. Drinks and snacks are served at the bar where a big fireplace is available to keep you warm in chilly mountain evernings.

The Topas Ecolodge is based on ecological principles and responsible tourism. Solar technology has been used to supply energy and hot water to all of the lodges. A wasterwater facility has been installed to avoid pollution of the local area. The lodge itself was constructed by local builders, skilled architects and experienced trades-people. Local people are also employed to work at Topas Ecolodge. Their principle is to to minimize the impact on the environment and local culture, and maximize the effect on the local economy.
