Destinations in the North of Vietnam :>Hanoi Hanoi is the capital of our country. It's over half the size of its southern counterpart. Hanoi is riven by the Red River and speckled with soothing lakes. Most buildings top out at five or six stories; highrises are still rare. A good number of gracious French buildings from the colonial era have survived wartime bombing and the wrecker’s ball, which is only now beginning to do its work. The streets are alive with shops stacked to the ceiling with consumer electronics and clothing. Sidewalks bustle with freelance capitalists: vendors hawking snacks, postcards, decorated hand fans, CDs, and books. :> Ha Long Bay This is one of the World's Natural Heritage. Ha Long Bay consists of a dense cluster of 1969 limestone monolithic islands, each topped with thick jungle vegetation, which rise spectacularly from the ocean. There are two bigger islands with permanent inhabitants, Tuan Chau and Cat Ba. Both of them have tourist facilities, including hotels and beaches. There are a number of wonderful beaches on the smaller islands. Some of the islands support floating villages of fishermen, who ply the shallow waters for 200 species of fish and 450 different kinds of mollusks. :> Sapa Sapa is an incredibly picturesque city, a former French hill station that lies on the Hoang Lien Son mountain range in Lao Cai province in the northwest of Vietnam. It’s one of the main market towns in the area, where there lived many local trades such as H’mong, Dzay, Dzao and Tay. Destinations in the Centre of Vietnam :> Hue Hue is the capital city of Thua Thien Hue province in the central of Vietnam. It was the imperial capital of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802 -1945), the final feudal regime of Vietnam. For 400 years, Hue has become the most valued national treasure in terms of history and heritage. And in 1993, the UNESCO recognized the architectural ensemble of Hue as a World Cultural Heritage. :> Hoi An The ancient town of Hoi An is located by the bank of the peaceful Thu Bon river in the central province of Quang Nam. It is a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage area. Hoi An has a distinct Chinese atmosphere with low, moss-covered tile roofed houses and narrow streets. Everything - houses, pagodas, temples in Hoi An is old-aged and ancient but affectionate, familiar and warmly-felt and make visitors feel relaxed, unworried and unhurried. :> Nha Trang Nha Trang is a coastal city and capital of Khanh Hoa province. Well known for its pristine beaches and excellent scuba diving, it is fast becoming a popular destination for international tourists, attracting large numbers of packpackers on the Southeast Asia circuit. But locals have been on to it for years. :> Dalat Dalat is the capital of Lam Dong province in Vietnam. The town is located 1500m above sea level on the Langbiang Plateau in the southern parts of the Central Highlands. Dalat is famous for its mild climate. Climatologists call Dalat the “City of Eternal Spring”. Destinations in the South of Vietnam :> Ho Chi Minh City Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon, is located on the right bank of the Saigon River, just northeast of the Mekong Delta. It is the largest city, the major port and an important commercial and industrial center of Vietnam. :> Can Tho Can Tho is a province in the Southern of Vietnam, located on the bank of the Bassac River (Hau Giang river), in the Mekong Delta, 170 kilometers southwest of Ho Chi Minh City. Can Tho has a complex of rivers and canals in which Hau river is considered as the benefactor of the region as yearly floods deposit large quantities of alluvia on the rice fields. That makes Can Tho “the green lungs of the Mekong Delta”. Destinations in Cambodia :> Phnom Penh Situated at the confluence of three great rivers - known as ‘Chaktomuk’ (four faces) or the ‘Quatre Bras’ (four arms) of the Mekong, Tonle Sap and Bassac rivers - Phnom Penh is the capital city of Cambodia and the country’s commercial, economic and political hub. Its main attractions are the Silver Pagoda, Royal Palace, Wat Phnom and the Killing Fields. :> Angkor Wat Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 km2, including forested area, Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. They include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations. :> Tonle Sap Cambodia's Tonle Sap, or Great Lake, is one of the unique geographical wonders of the world. It offers visitors insights into the centuries-old traditions of riparian life and the natural splendor of the country. During the rainy season the Tonle Sap River reversed direction, flooding the lake, increasing its size almost tenfold, making it the largest freshwater body in Southeast Asia. Destinations in Laos :> Vientiane Vientiane is the capital of Laos. Busy and hectic in comparison to the rest of the country, it is quiet compared with any other city in Asia. Vientiane is a city full of surprises. French Colonial architecture sits next to gilded temples. Freshly baked French bread is served next to shops selling noodle soup. There is little modern in Vientiane. Old French colonial houses are being restored as offices and as restaurants and hotels. There are only a handful of modern buildings which sometimes look remarkably out of place in this quiet capital. :> Luang Prabang Luang Prabang is the jewel of Indochina, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. The ancient royal city is surrounded by mountains at the junction of the Mekong and its tributary, the Khan River. In the centre of the city is Mount Phousi with stunning views of the surrounding temples and hills. Luang Prabang is a city where time seems to stand still.
